PROFESSIONAL PROFILE:
a lifelong advocate for innovative medical health sciences education with 45+ years of experience contributing to
instructional innovations to many modern anatomy departments. an accreditation consultant to colleges of medicine,
worked as an external examiner on the consultancy boards in committees of ministries of health and higher education. an
expert with a track record of focusing on impact using multidisciplinary, intersectional and right-based approaches. a
leader, active member in committees which have established many medical colleges and universities. adept in designing,
implementing comprehensive curriculums that meets specific goals, education requirements and standards. have worked
in universities in zanzibar, tanzania (2021); saudi arabia (2003-2005 & 2016); sultanate of oman (1989-1994) and sudan
(1978-1988). i established the national university-sudan, (2005), to become the only university in sudan accredited by the
british accreditation council [bac] since 2015; worked as vice chancellor of a public university (1998-2003); served as the
undersecretary of the federal ministry of health (1996-1998); dean of a public medical college (1994-1996), was promoted
to full professor by the university of gezira, sudan in 1991. an accomplished researcher and author; published 6 books; 5
in human morphology and 1 in ultrasonography. over 75 articles in international journals with over 1500 citations,
(october 2020) in the areas of interest; human anatomy, diagnostic radiology and medical education. some publications
are the outcome of multinational research projects and grants, investigated altered human morphology in tropical
medicine using diagnostic imaging, mainly ultrasound. as a group, a principal ultrasound investigator, we made
breakthroughs in ultrasound phenotype and genotype characterisation of tropical diseases’ susceptibility/resistance in,
schistosomiasis, published on 3d-ct in skull base fractures and temporal bone imaging. i have attendedand presented in a
number of conferences and workshops. i continue to teach human clinical anatomy, diagnostic imaging including;
neurology, oral and maxillofacial imaging. a fellow of the royal college of physicians of edinburgh uk, 2012.
