LOS ANGELES, CA – The Muslim American Society (MAS) 2025 Annual Convention, held this past weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center, featured prominent humanitarian leaders addressing global crises, with a significant focus on Sudan. Among the key participants was Dr. Ambassador Muawia Elbukhari, co-founder and Director of the Sudanese American Relief and Development Center (SARC).
Dr. Elbukhari, a respected figure in both diplomatic and humanitarian circles, contributed to several panel discussions centered on "Global Solidarity in Times of Crisis." He provided a detailed, on-the-ground account of the devastating humanitarian situation in Sudan, highlighting the urgent needs of millions displaced by conflict and facing famine.
In his address, Dr. Elbukhari outlined SARC’s critical relief efforts inside Sudan and in neighboring countries, emphasizing the importance of sustainable aid, healthcare access, and educational continuity for displaced children. “The crisis in Sudan is not just a statistic; it is a profound human catastrophe demanding immediate and sustained action from the global community, especially from within the Muslim Ummah,” he stated.
His participation served to amplify SARC’s mission at one of the largest gatherings of Muslim American leaders, activists, and organizations. The convention provided a vital platform to network, mobilize resources, and build strategic partnerships to support SARC’s lifesaving work.
“MAS Convention 2025 has been an essential gathering for aligning our efforts,” Dr. Elbukhari remarked. “The solidarity shown here translates directly into hope and tangible support for the people we serve.”
The MAS Convention, themed "Navigating Challenges: Faith, Resilience, and Renewal," attracted thousands of attendees and featured a wide array of speakers focusing on community development, civic engagement, and international affairs.
